Insecurity could make Pyrrhic win the 24

That October 17, 2019 “el culiacanazo” canceled the possibility that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador would change his policy of confronting organized crime gangs with social programs.

The release of Ovidio Guzmán prevented a bloody confrontation in the streets of the Sinaloa capital; but it created the conditions for the disproportionate growth of organized crime, today erected as a parallel government in so many communities in Mexico.

That reality, the President knows, will not change with “hugs not bullets.” If he does not overcome “the culiacanazo”, the next government will inherit a country with regions subject to organized crime. And winning the Presidency would be a Pyrrhic triumph.

PRI: we are of the same, but divided

Although without overcoming the scratches from Campeche, the national leader of the PRI Alejandro Cárdenas Moreno achieved good publicity for the presentation of the catwalk of “distinguished PRI” candidates for the presidential candidacy.
