The official commented that, due to the proximity of Santa Catarina to Coahuila municipalities, such as Saltillo, Ramos Arizpe and Arteaga, it is likely that the personnel that Tesla will hire will come from those cities, in addition to the fact that the entity currently receives a significant flow of national and international migration. international.

“We know that (Santa Catarina) is one of the municipalities with the lowest percentage of households con housing backlog. Given the number of direct and indirect jobs that could materialize (35,000 are estimated), it is likely that all housing segments, to a greater or lesser extent, will experience a rebound in Santa Catarina and neighboring municipalities, therefore, collaboration with the housing industry construction is essential,” said the official.

The municipality of Santa Catarina, which is part of the metropolitan area, registered 306,322 inhabitants in 2020, which represented a 13.89% growth in its population compared to 2010, according to Data Nuevo León, with data from the Population and Housing Censuses. of the Inegi.

“To supply the housing demand appropriate, the role of public bodies will be fundamental, such as the Housing Institute, Infonavit, the Ministry of Mobility and Urban Planning, as well as the Monterrey Water and Drainage Services and the Federal Electricity Commission, but also of real estate developers and of the bank”, emphasized the official.

He said that vertical growth in the area near the Tesla plant would be favorable, therefore it is necessary for construction companies to guarantee the next inhabitants the necessary services: urban infrastructure, water and drainage services.

“I believe that there are excellent opportunities in Santa Catarina for this type of development. In fact, in the municipality, vertical developments are increasing, as in San Pedro Garza García and Monterrey, which concentrate more than 90% of vertical developments,” said the head of the Nuevo León Housing Institute.

According to data from the Unique Housing Registry (RUV), in the first two months of the year a total of 28,142 homes of all segments were registered in the country. Quintana Roo ranked first with 4,832 householdsfollowed by Nuevo León with 3,166 and Jalisco in third position with 2,502 households.

However, Nuevo León continues as a leader in the housing production. In the first two months, 2,496 homes were built in the entity, followed by Jalisco with 1,675 houses and Quintana Roo, where 945 homes were built.
