Inter Milan took the lead through Marcus Thuram in the 17th minute, before Hakan Calhanoglu added the second goal from a penalty kick in the 50th minute.
In the 87th minute, David Fratesi scored the third goal for Inter Milan.
Coach Simone Inzaghi – who played for Lazio and supervised its training between 2016 and 2021 – is now one win away from achieving the “first goal of the season” and winning the title when the two face Napoli.
The Nerazzurri have a rich history in this tournament, as they won the title in the past two editions out of the 7 times they were crowned in its history, and this edition is the first held with the participation of 4 teams: the league and cup champions and their runners-up, instead of one match combining the league and cup champions.
