Internal conflicts of Morena weaken structure: expert

After several irregularities and violent acts were evidenced during the internal process carried out by Morena in recent days, the party’s national leader, Mario Delgado, minimized the complaints of militants being carried, although he acknowledged that if the participation of militants in the riots, his expulsion will be analyzed, since, he said, “counselors will not be allowed to arrive in a bad way”.

At a press conference, the Morena leader asked to respect the internal process and not call the millions of people “carried” who, he assured, participated in the district assemblies on Saturday and Sunday to elect the Morena National Congress.

And although he admitted that there were irregularities in 19 of the 553 polling stations that were installed, that is, in 3.4% of the voting centers, he maintained that it will be the National Elections Commission of Morena who investigates and analyzes the cases to determine possible practices improper such as carrying and buying votes, and if verified, the election will be annulled and reinstated.

In addition to accusing that those people who carried out improper acts on the internal electoral day this weekend are infiltrators, since, he said, acting against Morena is giving the opposition “meat”, for which he considered that there is people who have nothing to do in the movement since it goes against what the statutes themselves say and play into the hands of the right.

“Impacts the image”

On the subject, Gustavo López Montiel, professor of Political Science at the School of Social Sciences and Government of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, considered that the confrontational acts that arose in the internal elections to renew the National Congress of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) party , will have a major impact in terms of the party’s image.

And it is that the expert highlighted that since Morena was created, and because a large part of its founders came from the PRD, the morenistas sought to distance themselves from that characteristic of the Aztec sun that highlighted it for being strongly internally conflictive in the face of the existence of tribes. However, he pointed out that, although Morena does not recognize the existence of tribes, there are groups that continue to act in the same way.

“In the case of Morena, since there are no rules that regulate internal conflicts, because the existence of these differences is not recognized, confrontations take place that obviously have an impact in media terms.

“What we saw to a large extent, in images where there is violence and not only theft of ballot boxes or pregnancy of ballot boxes, but physical violence, the image remains among the people that it is a frankly conflictive party,” he stressed.

Likewise, he warned that these violent acts and the evident division of groups within Morena will affect the next electoral processes, since there will be people who will reinforce their intention not to vote for Morena, while the internal confrontation will weaken the structures that the party managed to configure over these years.

“This election shows the weakness that Morena has and the strong confrontation that exists within. It is a harbinger of what may happen in electoral terms in the future, if this is not fixed from within and if clear rules are not established in which the groups that make up Morena can participate and are certain that they can obtain spaces in the party,” he stressed.
