Queretaro, Qro. After two years suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Livestock Fair of Querétaro (FIGQ), which in its 85th edition expects to capture an economic benefit of between 500 and 550 million pesos.
In addition, this year it is expected to receive between 650,000 and 700,000 visitors during the 19 days of activities (from November 24 to December 13), explained FIGQ director Carlos Alcocer Luque.
For this edition it is expected to create 6,000 direct jobs and 30,000 indirect jobs. Meanwhile, for its realization between 65 and 70 million pesos are invested.
The CEO of the UGRQEnrique Villeda Zarate, added that it is forecast to exceed 2019 indicators, when 496,000 attendees were received, a historical figure that then represented an annual increase of 38 percent.
“It was suspended for two consecutive years, but continuing with the tradition that has characterized the Livestock Union, this year we will hold our fair in the 85th edition. Hoping to exceed the record attendance of 496,000 attendees that we had in 2019, this was the result of combining healthy and first class entertainment, innovation in the attractions and important security for all who visit us and make this fair the best in the country”, he declared.
By 2022, 840 exhibitors of various kinds, both productive and for shows and company, will participate.
The manager of the UGRQ He said that this year various adaptations were made to the facilities of the Exhibitor Ecocenter, due to the fact that the ticket offices were expanded, the public transport area was redesigned and, in general, various improvements were made to the facilities.
This year the cost of admission will be 90 pesos and access will be free for children less than 1.20 meters tall.
The Secretary of Tourism of the state, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, highlighted that during the fair there will be spaces for the entity’s tourism promotion, such as the wine route and the Magical Towns, as well as areas to exhibit artisan products, among others.
The president of the Holstein Association of Mexico, Esteban Posada Renovales, highlighted that the organization has been exhibiting at FIGQ for 60 years; In 2019 there were about 400 animals, however, this year with the situation in the sector -due to the rise in production costs- it will be difficult to reach this amount, however, the presence of these species was guaranteed.
Meanwhile, the president of the Local Livestock Association of Sheep Breeders, José Luis Cervantes Lara, added that this year there will be a greater goat exhibition than in other years, as well as a gastronomic display of goat milk and meat.
In addition, there will be 42 National Sheep Exhibition that will continue to be carried out in the entity, within the framework of the fair.
