The International Organization for Migration revealed that more than 6.3 million Sudanese have fled their homes as a result of fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces since mid-April.
The international organization reported that “the ongoing clashes are severely affecting civilians, with reports of widespread human rights violations, forced displacement, and killings.”
The organization added, “The Displacement Tracking Matrix in Sudan indicates that 4 million, 955,538 people have been internally displaced in 5,312 locations in all states of the country (18 states).”
The international organization continued, “Since the outbreak of the crisis, 1,373,223 people have fled to neighboring countries, including Chad by 39.5%, South Sudan by 27.1%, and Egypt by 25.”
Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been waging a war that has left more than 9,000 dead, according to the United Nations, without several regional and international initiatives succeeding in establishing a ceasefire since that time.
