The official news website of the Iranian judiciary said that the country executed a militant from Erq Baluchi, today, Saturday, for the killing of two Revolutionary Guards by bullets five years ago.
Mizan added that Abd al-Hamid Mir Baluchzihi, one of the perpetrators of the attack that took place in 2015, was “executed by hanging this morning after judicial proceedings” in Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan region in southeastern Iran.
He pointed out that Mir Blokhzihi was a key member of the militant Sunni group Jaish al-Adl and was convicted of “waging an armed act against the state and membership of anti-regime groups.”
For a long time, the Sistan and Baluchistan region, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has witnessed occasional clashes between security forces, Sunni fighters and drug traffickers. Sunnis are the majority in the region.
The Army of Justice group, which says it demands greater rights and better living conditions for the Baluch ethnic minority, has claimed responsibility for a number of attacks on Iranian security forces in the region in the past few years.
