Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that suspending the additional protocol would reduce 30-20 percent of the IAEA’s oversight of Tehran’s nuclear activities.
In a statement to Iranian television, Araghchi said: “Suspending the additional protocol will reduce the volume of inspections and does not mean the expulsion of international inspectors.”
He added, “European countries are not in a position to claim that Iran’s steps to reduce commitments endanger diplomatic solutions.”
He pointed out that “Tehran gave the Europeans a sufficient opportunity, but they could not compensate for Washington’s withdrawal from the nuclear agreement.”
