Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Amir Saeed Irani, accused the United States and Britain of declaring war on the Yemeni people after joint air strikes on the country recently.
In an exclusive interview with the American magazine Newsweek, Irani said that any country participating in this military aggression or subsequent hostilities may expose itself to potential danger.
He added that the attacks by the United States and the United Kingdom on Yemen constitute a blatant violation of national sovereignty, a violation of international law, and a violation of the United Nations Charter.
He continued, “This military aggression is due to the success of the pressure exerted by the Israeli regime in Washington to drag the United States into a direct war and exacerbate the spread of conflicts to other parts of the region.”
He said that despite the failure of the Israeli regime to achieve most of its declared goals in the war on… Gazait seeks the broader crisis of the conflict in Gaza to facilitate the so-called exit from the current quagmire to save face.
Beyond weapons
He revealed that Israel’s demands from the United States extend beyond weapons, intelligence, financial and political support, and include the desire to share military tasks.
According to the Iranian ambassador, Tel Aviv believes that the conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria fall within its jurisdiction, while the wars in Iraq and Yemen will be linked to the United States.
He stressed that overwhelming evidence indicates that Israel has effectively maneuvered to involve the United States in these conflicts, in line with its own interests.
Regarding the extent of the success of the American-British military attacks in improving the security situation for commercial shipping in the Red Sea region, Irwani said that what must be asked is when did the Red Sea turn into an unsafe region, and what factors contributed to this transformation?
According to the ambassador, the direct answer is related to the war on Gaza, as the security concerns surrounding the Red Sea are intricately linked to developments in the besieged Strip, where international mechanisms have shown their lack of will and ability to stop the ongoing crimes in Gaza.
The reason is Gaza
He added that the people of Gaza are suffering from a harsh siege and are deprived of basic supplies such as fuel and food, which has caused a severe humanitarian crisis. “In response to this difficult circumstance, the movement… Ansar Allah In Yemen, driven by a sense of humanitarian duty, the role of defending the oppressed Palestinian nation.”
The Iranian ambassador explained, “In light of the recent aggression and as an expected result, it is expected that any country participating in this military aggression or subsequent hostilities will expose itself to potential danger, or that the Ansar Allah movement will consider it a justified target.”
Irani said that his country considers the arms embargo imposed on Yemen unjust and unjust, and added, “Despite our reservations about this decision, we recognize our responsibility as a member state of the United Nations that is aware and abides by its provisions.”
In response to a question about the risk of escalation by the Houthis or by groups sympathetic to their cause elsewhere in the region, Irwani said that resistance groups in Iraq and Lebanon are an integral part of their governments, and their decisions are subject to governmental considerations, while “Ansar Allah stands apart as a government.” Independent and possessing national sovereignty.
He added that “Ansar Allah enjoys a distinguished position and enjoys the highest level of support from its people,” and millions have taken to the streets “to express their steadfast support for their government’s policy, while at the same time expressing their contempt for America and Israel.”
