Today, Sunday, the government security media cell in Iraq announced that a policeman was killed and 33 others were wounded in protests in the southern province of Dhi Qar.
The cell stated in a press release: “A policeman was killed and 33 policemen were also wounded in the protests that took place today in the city of Nasiriyah, the capital of Dhi Qar Governorate.”
The cell did not mention the reasons for killing the policeman.
Earlier in the day, our correspondent in Iraq reported that there were renewed protests in the southern province of Dhi Qar, less than a month after the protesters’ tents were removed from Al-Haboubi Square, the center of protests in the province.
Activists were quoted as saying that a security member was shot dead by his colleague while they were shooting at protesters.
