The Iraqi Minister of Transport, Nasser Bandar, announced the beginning of the repair and extension of a railway linking Baghdad with the city of Mosul, the center of Nineveh Governorate, to Turkey.
Bandar told the official “INA” agency on Sunday: “The initial start-up operations of the project came after serious thought to restart the train from Baghdad to Mosul and then to Turkey.”
He stated that his country had already begun repairing some of the barrages destroyed by “ISIS” gangs, “and within two months the work will be completed … the grand plan is to link the Faw port to Turkey.”
The minister pointed out that Iraq has old trains, and is currently seeking to buy new ones as soon as the railway line is completed.
The project is the first of its kind in the city of Mosul, the center of Nineveh, due to the great economic and investment cooperation and exchange in the province with Turkey.
