Today, Saturday, the Anti-Terrorism Service in Iraq announced the implementation of more than 253 military operations against “ISIS” during the year 2020, while indicating the killing and arrest of about 500 members of the organization.
The agency stated in a press release: “Under the direct directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and under the direct supervision and planning of the Head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, First Lieutenant General Abdul Wahab Al-Saadi, the Counter-Terrorism Service forces and the tactical units of the Special Operations were able to carry out 253 operations during the current year.”
He added, “Through these operations, the agency was able to arrest 292 terrorist elements and kill 206 others, as the operations were carried out with air support from the Iraqi army and the international coalition aircraft.”
He pointed out that “the digital security teams of the Counter-Terrorism Service have succeeded in tracking down 26,280 accounts of terrorist gangs on social media platforms and instant messaging sites.”
He continued, “The operations carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Service aim to create a safe and stable environment for the life of our Iraqi people by continuing to track and target terrorist cells and their electronic platforms that spread hatred and extremism among its sects.”
