The newspaper quoted the authors of the letter as saying that taking vitamin D would greatly reduce the risk of citizens contracting the Coronavirus and protect them from death.
The specialists called to complete the list with recommendations on hand washing, taking into account social distancing, wearing protective masks, and daily vitamin D intake.
The scientists mentioned studies conducted by researchers in many countries and the experience of countries where vitamin D intake has become an agreed rule by all.
In particular, there is an example of the Spanish region of Andalusia, where everyone who lived in a nursing home began taking vitamin D since last fall.
In their letter, the scientists said that the death rate from “Covid-19” decreased by 20 times in nursing homes in Andalusia within two months.
The message quoted Dan McCartney, director of the Correct Food Institute at Trinity College, Dublin, as saying that patients infected with Coronavirus who face vitamin deficiencies are moved to intensive care rooms 15 times more than others.
Dan McCartney attributed the low rates of infection with the Coronavirus in Finland to the consumption of milk and milk enriched with vitamin D in Finland since 2003, and he said that it is impossible to obtain an adequate amount of this vitamin by observing the correct diet and sunlight, especially in winter conditions.
The scientists indicated in their message that the optimal daily dose for vitamin D intake at the time of the Corona virus outbreak is 20-25 micrograms. They added that the elderly, obese and dark-skinned people should consult their doctor before taking vitamin D.
