When Sean Marks announced that Kevin Durant would extend his relationship with the Brooklyn Nets for $ 198 million for four seasons from 2022, he accompanied the news with the presumed renewals of Irving and Harden. The objective then was to close the operation before starting the season, something in which the general manager remains committed. According to Marks himself, the talks are proceeding as expected. “We have had very positive talks with both of them. It has helped us a lot that the process with their families and close people has been done in person ”.
The manager pronounced these words in his last meeting with the press before the training camp, during which updates on the subject will surely emerge. Marks is not trying to speed things up any more than they should. “We are aware that summer should be a time to put all these issues aside. We plan to sit down with them over the course of a week or two and take care of it. ” Although, really, there is little to discuss. Both Irving and Harden will sign for the max. 161.1 million for four years for La Barba and 181.6 in the same period for Uncle Drew. The only variables that can affect both deals are their clauses and incentives, which will be more interesting on the franchise side.
The Nets bet has them as the second team that pays the most luxury rates to the league, so the expense is already guaranteed. Yet Marks continues to celebrate his trident’s decision like a gift from heaven. “The fact that they have decided to come here together makes us believe in building something special in the immediate future.”
