Is Ricardo Monreal’s call late?

Last Friday, a man broke into the house of Mrs. Nancy Pelosi, second in line to the United States succession and, not finding her, attacked her husband, an attack resulting from delusional Trump messages of hate.

Yesterday, the beleaguered senator Ricardo Monreal, still coordinator of the majority in the Senate, made a call to morenistas and non-morenistas, to society as a whole: “let’s not contaminate ourselves with hate messages.”

It is worth asking ourselves if his call is not late, since verbal campaign violence intensifies daily, and ask whether the ruling party will care if some disoriented fanatics believe that verbal violence is a license to attack opponents.

Do early campaigns matter?

Many who, for various reasons, have not seen the change since 2018, warn that the candidates – corcholatas, in the Palace’s slang – for the presidential candidacy of the Official Party risk sanctions for advanced campaigns.

To the ruling party and, unfortunately, dragged by necessity, even the opposition politicians will be at the same risk, only that they, unlike “the bottle caps”, will not have the benevolence of the electoral authorities.

Or someone believes that rejecting the electoral reform will prevent the Government of the Republic from achieving that before next summer there will be generous allies in the electoral bodies. For that, they say, is Power, although they no longer look different.

Difficult for the SCJN to revive callista laws

Callismo, paradoxical and contradictory, built institutions that laid the foundations of today’s Mexico, but its anti-Catholic prejudices also imposed anti-religious laws that provoked La Cristiada and were tempered until just over 30 years ago.

Thus, although with exceptional rules, in Mexico there is relative religious freedom that struggles with visions of modernity that include Catholicism as part of the demonized conservatives.

Being that popular religiosity is inseparable from idiosyncrasy, the fear of the Archdiocese of Mexico that the First Chamber of the Supreme Court declares it unconstitutional to place a nativity scene in a Yucatecan town hall building seems unfounded.
