Isaiah Hartenstein will fight for a place on the roster with which the Los Angeles Clippers will start the regular season, a team that I have contracted to do the training camp there; Adrian Wojnarowski reports from ESPN.
The pivot, who had sounded like a possible reinforcement of the Brooklyn Nets, lands in the Californian organization after rejecting the player option he had for the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Such player option I would have given him the chance to play one more year in Ohio in exchange for $ 1.76 million; however, he chose to go out to free agency.
Hartenstein arrived in Cleveland this past March in the same trade that brought JaVale McGee to Denver. The change of scenery felt really good for the Oregon center, who averaged 8.3 points and 6 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per night in the 16 games he played with the Cavs. It remains to be seen that such a performance will open a gap for him in the upcoming course.
