The “ISIS” organization, which is classified as an international terrorist, has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack that rocked the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Thursday, killing more than 30 people.

The organization said, in a statement published on its media outlets, that one of its members, called Abu Yousef Al-Ansari, detonated an explosive belt he was wearing in Tayaran Square, while a second explosion was carried out in the same way by another member of the organization called Muhammad Aref Al-Muhajir, after a gathering People gathered near the site after the first bombing.
The Iraqi authorities confirmed that two suicide bombings rocked a crowded popular market in Tayaran Square in central Baghdad, in an attack that left 32 dead and 110 wounded.
The spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, announced that ISIS stands behind the attack, indicating that this operation represents a clear message, “through which the organization wanted to prove that it still exists.”
Against the background of the incident, the Prime Minister directed the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, to mobilize the security forces to preserve the security of citizens, while ordering changes to a number of positions in the security services.
