“Hundreds of children between the ages of 12 and 16 who received the Pfizer vaccine did not have any serious side effects,” an Israeli health sector official told the Guardian.
“We have so far vaccinated about 600 children, and we have not witnessed any serious side effects, and even mild symptoms are very rare, and this is encouraging,” Boaz Lev, head of the vaccination team in Israel, said. The children, some of whom have lung disease, had not previously participated in a clinical trial.
And the Israeli Ministry of Health recommended that some adolescents be vaccinated if they “suffer from conditions that may make them vulnerable to infection with the Coronavirus.”
The company “Pfizer” is conducting a study on children between the ages of 12 and 15 years, and expects to start another study for children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. The University of Oxford also announced a trial to test the Corona vaccine produced by the “AstraZeneca” company on children under the age of six years. These studies are expected to take several months.
More than half of Israelis have received at least one dose of the Coronavirus vaccine, and officials expect about 60% of the entire population to be vaccinated within weeks.
