Earlier this week it was the four year anniversary of McGregor’s TKO success against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
Posting on Instagram this week, McGregor wrote: ‘Most Knockdowns in a UFC World Title Fight! Clinical shooting. I have surpassed this level, multiple times over. Excited to showcase!’

However, although McGregor claims that he registered five knockdowns against Alvarez, UFC records state that he only had three.
Adesanya commented on McGregor’s post, writing: ‘2nd most knockdowns’, accompanied by a wink emoji.
McGregor believes that he holds the record due to his success against Eddie Alvarez in 2016
However, UFC records state Adesanya managed four knockdowns against Kelvin Gastelum
As reported by Bloody Elbow, UFC records state that Adesanya managed four knockdowns when he took on Kelvin Gastelum in a Middleweight clash at UFC 236 in 2019.
In April 2019, McGregor disputed the suggestion that Adesanya had more knockdowns than him.
McGregor wrote: Wait, what? The @ufc did what? That’s twice now! I want plaques before I’m back.Digital plaques shall do. Hurry up @ufc, I’ll be here. And use a good image.’
