Under the above heading, Igor Sobotin wrote, in “Nezavisimaya Gazeta,” about the so-called Israeli proposals regarding Washington’s supposed handling of Iran’s nuclear program.
The article reads: Israel intends to present to the administration of US President Joseph Biden its conditions for Washington’s possible re-negotiation of the nuclear deal with Tehran. Mossad chief Yossi Cohen will hand over the list of Israeli demands to Washington next month. Among the demands of Israel to present it to the Iranian leadership is to impose restrictions on uranium enrichment and to stop financing irregular Shiite formations in the Middle East.
Biden team representatives reported that on the basis of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the White House is seeking a long-term agreement with Iran over its nuclear program and resolving the Iranian missile problem. Note that Washington does not intend to limit itself to consulting on this matter on the Israeli side, but rather wants to consult its allies from the Arab kingdoms as well.
Such plans are expected to receive public criticism from Tehran. So far, Tehran has reported that it is not ready to renegotiate the nuclear agreement, let alone expand it to include additional issues not related to the nuclear program.
Nevertheless, the Iranian leadership remains optimistic about the easing of the pressure the Trump administration has placed on the Islamic Republic.
The question remains about Israel’s possible response to the Biden administration’s possible failure to reach an agreement with the Iranian leadership. The past months have proven that the Jewish state is ready for dangerous escalation steps.
