Israel suffered a painful blow after 108 days of fighting when 21 officers and soldiers were killed in a complex operation carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – in the Maghazi camp.
This number is the largest announced by the Israeli army since last October 7.
According to the Qassam Brigades, the soldiers were booby-trapping buildings east of Al-Maghazi, 600 meters from the separation fence, at 4 p.m.
An occupation army report said that Al-Qassam fighters suddenly appeared from among the fields and approached for dozens of meters, then withdrew after carrying out the attack.
The Israeli Prime Minister described this day as the most difficult since the start of the war, while Defense Minister Yoav Galant said that what happened was a “strong blow.”
As for War Council member Benny Gantz, he said that the reserve soldiers who fell on this day were the ones who left everything in order to defend Israel and the Zionist vision.
