Israel has extended the closure of airports and land borders for an additional 14 days, that is, until the sixth of March, with the exception of emergency cases, according to a joint statement by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health.
Israel allowed the reopening of synagogues and other places of worship, starting from Friday morning, with attendance limited to 10 people inside and 20 outside.
The Cabinet also decided to keep border crossings and middle schools closed due to fears of the British virus strain, which is believed to be widespread among Israeli youth.
The Ministry of Immigration said that 6 special flights are still permitted carrying about 900 immigrants from Ethiopia, France, Russia, Ukraine and South America, stressing that the new arrivals will be subject to quarantine upon arrival.
