Besides being sad, it is unfair that Brazil has gone from being an object of desire outside its borders to being a motive for chacota with all that this entails, such as the serious economic and moral crisis that the country is experiencing.
The pathetic images that arrive from New York and show President Jair Bolsonaro eating a pizza in the street when he cannot enter a restaurant because he is not vaccinated, and his entrance to the hotel through the back door for fear of meeting journalists, They have traveled the world and are an embarrassment to the country.
It no longer matters what Bolsonaro may say in his inaugural speech at the UN. Those images have already said it all. They seem to be from a banana country and not from the fifth largest country on the planet and the economic heart of Latin America.
One would have to wonder how long the country’s institutions are going to continue allowing Brazil to be the object of ridicule and ironies by keeping a president in power over whom there are more than 100 petitions for impeachment in Congress. The political excuses for not opening a case against the president are ridiculous as well as dangerous.

That the reasons of low politics prevail to keep in power a president rejected by the great majority of the population impoverishes the other institutions and parties.
The passivity of the political forces in the face of the abuses of democracy and the palpable inability of the captain to govern a country of the size of Brazil may one day fall on the backs of those who, being able, did not remove from power a world-renowned character not only as a genocidal one, but as a destroyer of the environmental wealth that reaches the entire planet. Bolsonaro is poisoning the coexistence of more than 200 million increasingly impoverished people, who seek the bones of animals in the markets, since meat has been left only for the wealthy classes. It is an embarrassment and humiliation for a country that exports food to half the world.
Today Brazil has politicians prepared and capable of presiding over the country not only with competence but also with dignity. Dragging another year without a government due to the intrigues of low politics could contribute to aggravating the already serious economic crisis and multiplying the lack of credibility in the country.
We cannot forget that the president’s strength is very expressive and concentrates a lot of power for good and for evil. Hence, the permanence in power of someone not only discredited inside and outside its borders and who is jeopardizing its future supposes a responsibility of the rest of the institutions.
Experience reminds us that while it is difficult to build a country with solid democratic and economic foundations, it is very easy to reduce it to rubble due to the incompetence or arrogance of those who govern it. That Brazil is deteriorating with each passing day while the crisis that afflicts it grows is no longer a secret but a global evidence.
That those who have the power to do so continue to close their eyes to the deterioration of the country and turn a deaf ear to the cry of the majority that according to all the polls calls for a change of power could end up being tragic for the poor and the rich. All end up losing with a government unable to bring the country out of the hell to which it has been condemned.
At this point it does not matter what the Brazilian president can say at the UN, where he is already the object of discredit and undisguised fear due to his ability to drag the third largest democracy in the world into fascism.
The negative symbolism of Bolsonaro and his official entourage eating pizza on the streets of New York and having to enter the hotel as a fugitive nullifies his words, which have already lost all their strength and respect.
