The lottery jackpot has grown to $700 million and is now the fifth largest in Powerball history, the company said in a statement. It’s also the eighth US lottery jackpot of all time, Powerball added.
So far, there have been 35 draws in a row without anyone taking home the grand prize, the statement explained. The next draw will take place around 11 pm Miami time this Wednesday.
Unfortunately for ticket buyers, however, the odds of hitting the jackpot are just 1 in 292.2 million. If someone wins, they can choose to receive 30 payments over 29 years or a lump sum payment, according to the press release.
The cash value of the prize will be around $335.7 million, Powerball says.
The largest Powerball jackpot of all time was $1.586 million in January 2016, according to the release. They were followed by hauls of $768.4 million in 2019, $758.7 million in 2017 and $731.1 million in 2021.
