Italian virologist: 3-month lockdown and follow-up of vaccination if we want to overcome the crisis
The head of the Italian Medicines Agency, Aifa, Giorgio Gallo, considered that “if the virus is confined within the next two to three months, we will probably get out of its threat scope.”
He added that we must show faith and focus on vaccination and patience for a few more weeks before easing restrictions and temptations to reopen.

He said, “The third wave can be avoided … We are in a downward slide of the epidemic curve, albeit slow.”
He pointed out that the three mutations spread in the world, English, South Africa and Brazil, make the SARS-Cove-2 virus more contagious, and thus increase the risk of deaths.
He continued: “The concern cannot be denied .. but I repeat that to keep the new strains under control, starting with the English ones in Italy, precautions and measures used against the original strain that came from Wuhan, China, are needed.”
