The Governor of the Italian region of Lazio, Nicola Dzengaretti, announced that the Ladzaro Spalantzani Institute for Infectious Diseases will soon begin tests for the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the Corona virus.
Dzengaretti said, in a press statement he made on Saturday: “After several days, the first agreement on conducting scientific tests for the Sputnik V vaccine will be concluded at the Spalantsani Institute.”
The Italian region of Lazio added: “This is excellent news, and that will enable us to make a breakthrough in the field of vaccination.”
On Friday, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi confirmed that he did not rule out that his government might take a unilateral decision on approving the use of the Russian vaccine in Italy in the event that the issue is not resolved at the European Union level.
