Jalisco businessmen project positive first semester

Guadalajara, Jalisco. After two difficult years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Jalisco business sector foresees a first half of 2022 with growth in its orders, profits, job creation and sales.

According to the Study of Economic Expectations of the Private Sector of Jalisco for the first semester of 2022, local companies projected a positive first semester by placing the indicator at 67.5 points, a number even higher than the index that was had in 2019, before the pandemic.

“On average, companies consider that the first half of 2022 will be more positive, being above 50 points, which is the threshold between positive and pessimistic expectations,” said the director of the Institute of Statistical and Geographic Information of the State of Jalisco ( IIEG), Augusto Valencia.

“This index increased 4.88 points compared to the previous semester and 14.87 points in one year,” he added.

During the presentation of the study, the coordinator of the Council of Industrial Chambers of Jalisco (CCIJ), César Castro Rodríguez, anticipated that the industrial sector alone expects to generate 12,000 new jobs this year and an investment of 250 million dollars.

The president of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), Carlos Villaseñor Franco, stressed that the positive results in terms of economic development in Jalisco are due to the coordinated work between businessmen, government and academia.

He added that “today Jalisco has a unique Entrepreneurship Law in the entire country; We were the state with the highest generation of employment in 2021.”
