(CNN) — When it comes to all the drama surrounding a temporary ban on entering a famous New York restaurant, James Corden calls it all “so silly.”
In an interview with The New York Times to promote his upcoming Amazon series “Mammals,” Corden said a diner at the restaurant where he was dining with the newspaper reporter argued with her waitress because she didn’t like her eggs.
“It happens every day,” Corden said. “It’s happening in 55,000 restaurants right now. It’s always about the eggs.”
“Can you imagine now, if we just criticized her on Twitter? Would that be fair?” he added. “This is my point. It’s crazy.”
Earlier this week, the late-night host was briefly removed from the Balthazar restaurant by its owner, Keith McNally, who posted on Instagram that Corden was “the most abusive customer to my Balthazar staff since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.” “.
One of the incidents he cited was Corden allegedly getting upset after “some egg white” ended up in a Gruyère egg yolk omelette that his wife had ordered.
Shortly after McNally posted that, Corden called him and “apologized profusely,” according to the owner, and it was all resolved.
“I didn’t do anything wrong, on any level,” Corden told The New York Times, adding that he wouldn’t have canceled the interview because of the awkwardness of having to talk about it.
“I was there. I understand,” he added.
“I feel so zen about the whole thing. Because I think it’s silly,” Corden said. “I just don’t think it’s up to any of us. It doesn’t suit you. It’s definitely not worthy of your post.”
