(CNN) — Some of the people who worked with Jamie Foxx on his latest project shared a positive update on the actor’s health.
Foxx has been out of the picture since April, when he experienced an undisclosed “medical complication,” according to his daughter, Corinne Foxx. The star was in Atlanta, Georgia, filming at the time.
No further information about the incident has been provided.
Foxx is a very private person and those around him have respected him while he is recovering.
In May, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to CNN that Foxx was receiving medical treatment at a physical rehabilitation center in Chicago.
John Boyega, Foxx’s co-star in “They Cloned Tyrone,” spoke to People this week at the film’s premiere and said he had finally heard from Foxx after trying to contact him.
“Okay,” Boyega said. “And so, you know, we just give him privacy, and we’re looking forward to his return.”
The “Star Wars” actor said he gave Foxx “the best wishes directly.”
“I gave him all the good wishes. So I’m going to be waiting until he comes back around,” Boyega said. “So take your time Jamie. We love you bro.”
Co-producer Datari Turner seconded Boyega’s point.
“He’s doing amazing. I promise you. He’s doing very, very well,” Turner said. “[El director] Christmas [Taylor] spoke to him yesterday. John Boyega spoke to him yesterday. He is in very, very good shape and in a good mood. And he will return to the screen. He’ll be back to work very soon.”
Although Foxx has not been seen publicly since his medical incident, there have been a few posts on his verified social media, including one thanking his followers for their well wishes.
