Country music star Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany Aldean, paid tribute to the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk with a heartfelt musical performance. On Tuesday, the couple posted a joint video on Instagram featuring their duet of Luke Bryan’s 2013 ballad “Drink a Beer,” a song about the unexpected loss of a loved one.
The black-and-white video shows Jason playing guitar while the couple sings, and was posted with the simple caption, “For Charlie.” The clip opened with a photo of the Aldeans at Kirk’s memorial service, which took place Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The couple was among the nearly 100,000 attendees who gathered to mourn the Turning Point USA founder.
Following the memorial, Brittany Aldean shared her reflections on Instagram. She described the service as “overwhelming” but “weirdly positive,” noting its strong faith-based focus. “His death does feel like… a revival,” she said, explaining that she was inspired by the stories of his impact. Notable figures who eulogized Kirk included Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
This was the couple’s second public tribute. The day after Kirk’s death, Jason Aldean paused his concert in Detroit to honor his friend. “An amazing person by the name of Charlie Kirk was murdered yesterday,” Aldean told the audience. He condemned the act, stating, “It’s a weird country that we live in when you start taking people out because you disagree with their opinions.” He then dedicated a performance of his 2023 single, “Try That in a Small Town,” to Kirk, noting that the activist had been one of the song’s earliest supporters.
Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while speaking outside Utah Valley University on September 10. Authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the assassination. Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering, and is being held without bail.
