Los Angeles Clippers rookie Jason Preston has undergone surgery on his right foot. According to the journalist of ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski, the player is expected to miss a “significant” part of the 2021-22 season.
The team later confirmed the procedure and announced in a press release that Preston had been treated for a ligament injury in his right foot. An “extended” period of time will be lost and no timeframe for his return has been disclosed.
This is a serious blow to the Clippers and to Preston himself. After being selected in the 33rd selection of the 2021 draft, he signed a three-year contract with the Los Angeles franchise, two of them being fully guaranteed. His injury reportedly occurred in a group training before the start of the training camp.
Preston emerged as a solution for the future at the point guard, where he comprises a more than interesting combination of vision of the game, creation and creativity, three aspects that the Clippers have missed in recent seasons.
