(CNN) — Actor Jeremy Renner made his first red carpet appearance since sustaining serious injuries after being crushed by a snowplow near his Nevada home in January.
Renner attended the premiere of her new Disney+ reality series “Rennervations” on Tuesday. In the show, which was shot before her accident, Renner “reimagines” decommissioned government vehicles and donates them to serve children in needy communities.
“It’s a lot of things for me, personally,” Renner told CNN of her new project when asked how she felt about being at the event. “I feel like now everyone is joking about what I’ve been doing with my time. It feels weird, wonderful, strange. I never thought I’d still be dreaming at 52. I feel like I’ve lived it. But boy, it’s nice that things come true for you. I still have wonderful things to do, and I am very grateful to be here to continue discovering them.”
Injuries to Renner in the accident, in which he was swept away by the moving snowplow, included eight broken ribs in 14 places, a broken eye socket, a broken knee, a collapsed lung and a punctured liver.
In recent months he has documented his recovery on social media.
During a discussion hosted by Jimmy Kimmel after Tuesday’s screening, the host jokingly asked Renner if he was planning to reuse “that damn snowblower.”
“It’s a snowplow,” Renner replied. “And where I live, it’s a necessity.”
“My mom wants to set it on fire,” the Marvel star later joked. “I just have to learn to drive it better!”
