Jesús Zambrano warns possible use of the Army against the opposition in 2024

The national leader of the PRD, Jesus Zambranoraised the possibility that the federal government will use in 2024 the Armed forces against the opposition in case Morena do not obtain victory in the presidential elections that year.

At a press conference in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, the PRD leader said he was convinced that there is no security strategy for the federal government or a real interest in fighting crime, so he asked about the interest that the president’s government had Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to extend to 2028, and not in 2024 as planned, the presence of the Armed Forces in public security tasks.

“There is no strategy, but rather there is a complicity of the federal government, and through it or on its instructions, with the Armed Forces, a complicity with criminal groups, diverse in the country and they even become allies of them to win elections as we saw it last year.

“That is why the process of militarization that has been taking place in the country is so dangerous, because if they do not want this militarization to deal with insecurity problems, why do they want it? To confront the population when in 2024 we manage to beat them and they say that from the opposition we cheated them and they want to throw the Armed Forces on us? Watch out for that. That is why we have been talking about a risk of dictatorship that is in the country, things have to be called by their name”, he referred.

In another matter, during his visit to Chiapas, where he met with state leaders, Jesús Zambrano questioned that the government of Morena in that state had denied the intoxication of young students with drugs.
