The New York Jets acquired wide receiver John Metchie III and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick from the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday. In exchange, Philadelphia receives running back Michael Carter and a 2027 seventh-round pick.
Metchie, originally a second-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2022, saw limited action with the Eagles this season. Through seven appearances, he caught all four of his targets for 18 yards.
He now joins a Jets offense seeking additional playmakers to support No. 1 receiver Garrett Wilson. Metchie will compete for a role in a wide receiver group that includes Tyler Johnson, Allen Lazard, Isaiah Williams, and Arian Smith.
