Comedian Jim Gaffigan has released a new stand-up special, Live from Old Forester: The Bourbon Set, now available to stream on YouTube.
Filmed at The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts in Louisville, Kentucky, with a stage lined with oak barrels, the special is inspired by Gaffigan’s deep immersion in the world of bourbon. This interest recently led to the launch of his own small-batch bourbon, Fathertime.
In 2024, Gaffigan partnered with college friend Stu Pollard to channel his passion for whiskey and fatherhood into Fathertime Bourbon. The brand is named for “the occasional brief period of peace and reflection every hardworking father earns,” and its label features a portrait of Gaffigan’s paternal grandfather. Fathertime is a high-rye Kentucky bourbon released in small batches each spring and fall.
“With Live from Old Forester: The Bourbon Set, I let my love of bourbon lead the way,” Gaffigan stated. “At this point, I’m not sure if bourbon is a passion or a mid-life crisis, but I love it. Since this was such a niche endeavor, I didn’t even go to a big streamer. I just wanted to get this material out there for the other bourbon geeks.”
The special was directed by Mike Lavin and produced by Stu Pollard, with Jim Gaffigan, Jeannie Gaffigan, and Alex Murray serving as executive producers. Production companies include Chimichanga Productions, 3 Nuts Studios, and Lunacy Unlimited.
Gaffigan, an acclaimed comedian, author, and actor, released his 11th special, The Skinny, on Hulu last winter, where it has since garnered nearly 100 million clip views online. He is currently on his “Everything is Wonderful” tour.
