The 30-year-old comedian has shed 12 kilos of body fat and put on 4 kilos of muscle after changing his diet and maintaining a daily exercise regimen for 12 weeks. Â

Uploading a photo of his transformation to Instagram, Joel wrote: ‘A genuine (and terrifying) honour for this scoliotic, arthritic 30 year old to be on the cover of Men’s Health out tomorrow!’
‘UM LOL WHAT?! After 140+ days in Melbourne lockdown I physically and mentally felt like s**t so I decided to try do something about it,’ he continued.
‘I was asked in passing if I would like to do a cover, I said yes thinking it would never happen and then boom… here we are.’

Joel continued: ‘Thank you to Acero and Jono Castano for concocting the whole plan. Scott Henderson from Men’s Health for making me feel like Elle Macpherson.’
The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star went on to thank ACERO’s Ben Putland and Silvia Kramska for ‘sticking the boot in’ along the way.
Reaching his milestone birthday of 30, Joel said that he decided to take fitness more seriously and paired-up with celebrity trainer Jono Castano.

Speaking of his transformation Joel told Men’s Health: ‘I was a state swimmer in high school and then I gave up competing because I didn’t want to go shirtless.’
‘I went to an all-boys school and I stopped participating in school swimming carnivals because the thought of taking my shirt off was terrifying.’
Joel said that growing up he was very self-conscious because he was embarrassed about his body and said that he was the last boy in his year to grow armpit hair.

‘The eating will absolutely stay healthy, just all the little tweaks I’ve made and the new habits that I’ve formed, like swapping to a long black coffee and not eating right before bed, all those little things will definitely be staying,’ he said.Â
Previously speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Joel’s trainer Jono said that consistency is key.
‘Be consistent with working out. My thing is 45 daily, meaning at least moving for 45 minutes, whether a that’s as simple as a walk or a high intensity workout, whatever you prefer,’ he said.

‘I also suggest not only just a 45 minute workout but have other daily goals like 10,000 steps, stretch for 10 minutes and run 3kms.Â
‘Little goals like that daily can keep you motivated and not want to break your streak.’
In 2020, Jono, 30, helped Rebel Wilson lose 20kg during her ‘year of health.’ She has since reached a total weight loss of 30kg.
