World-renowned competitive eater Joey Chestnut is set to take on a colossal food challenge at CHS Field in St. Paul, Minnesota, this August. He will be joined by fellow international food challenger and Minnesota native, Bandana.eats.
The duo will attempt the “Land of 10,000 Calories” challenge on August 8, just before the St. Paul Saints baseball game. The untimed event will see the pair try to conquer the 23.5-pound meal, which has only ever been finished by groups of at least a dozen people.
Introduced this season, the “Land of 10,000 Calories” features a six-foot-long hot dog loaded with pulled pork, mac and cheese, jalapeños, and barbecue sauce. The dish is served with six feet of fresh fries and a side of jalapeño poppers.
Chestnut is a dominant figure in competitive eating, holding 17 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Champion titles and 55 world records, including his 2021 record of eating 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes. His partner, Bandana.eats, has successfully completed hundreds of food challenges.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Cub A Cabana Lawn Pavilion in the left-field corner, with the first pitch of the Saints game scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
Fans interested in attending can purchase special ticket packages. A $76 package includes two game tickets, an exclusive viewing area for the challenge, a pre-event meet-and-greet with Chestnut, and a one-foot “mini” version of the colossal hot dog with all the fixings. A $30 package offers a single game ticket and the meet-and-greet.
For those attending other Saints games, the “Land of 10,000 Calories” is available for $135 at the Dog Park concession stand. Due to its 45-minute preparation time, the stadium can typically only fulfill about five orders per game.
