British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Friday that US President Joe Biden has returned the United States to its position as “leader of the free world”, in a “wonderful step that helped unify the West.”
He added in his speech at the Munich Security Conference, “As you have seen and heard before, America has returned without reservation to its position as the leader of the free world and this is a wonderful thing,” referring to the speech of the US President earlier on Friday.
Johnson’s statement comes after Biden’s assertion that the United States is fully committed to NATO and the fifth clause of the Washington agreement, which states that any attack on one NATO member is an attack on all.
The British Prime Minister’s statement coincides with the United States’s formal return to the Paris climate agreement to activate the global battle against climate change, as President Joe Biden’s administration plans to drastically reduce emissions over the next three decades.
