Juancho Hernangómez has played his first minutes with the Boston Celtics jersey. At the TD Garden, as a starter alongside Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Robert Williams, and playing against the Orlando Magic, the Spanish player already knows what it means to defend green pride, even if it was a preseason game.
With 17 minutes on the court, Juancho contributed 6 points and 4 rebounds and a stopper for the Massachusetts organization to begin its preparation for the 2021-22 season with a 98-97 victory. It is still too early to assure anything, but actions like the one we see below serve to understand what it can contribute to Boston.
Juancho became the first Spanish player to be part of the Celtics since his transfer from Minnesota, and since last night he also became the first to play for the team. He cannot be in a better stage, especially since his new coach, Ime Udoka, seems to trust him as an important part of his rotation, since the first day he has appeared in the starting five. With a contract that is not guaranteed beyond the summer of 2022, Hernangómez is facing the opportunity to win a place in the NBA in one of the most prestigious franchises.
