(CNN) — In his soon-to-be-published autobiography, actor Sam Neill, best known for his work in the “Jurassic Park” franchise films, reveals that he recently battled stage III blood cancer but is now recovered.
According to The Guardian, who spoke to Neill, he had angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma and was undergoing chemotherapy.
The outlet reports that he currently has a relatively new chemotherapy drug that he will take monthly for the rest of his life.
“I’m not free as such, but there is no cancer in my body,” Neill told the publication.
A representative for Neill confirmed to CNN that he is in remission.
“I can’t pretend that the last year hasn’t had its dark moments,” Neill added in the interview. “But those dark moments put the light in strong relief, you know, and have made me feel grateful for each day and immensely grateful for all my friends. I’m just glad to be alive.”
Neill is now “very well and back at work,” his rep added.
He is currently in production on “Apples Never Fall,” a Peacock limited series based on the best-selling novel by “Big Little Lies” author Liane Moriarty. The project also stars Annette Bening.
The launch of Neill’s book, published in English with the title “Did I Ever Tell You This?” It is scheduled for March 21.
