(Trends Wide) — The Kyle Rittenhouse case is already in the hands of the jury, who have left the court to begin deliberations.
Six substitute jurors, 3 men and 3 women, were fired this Tuesday before the start of the deliberations.
The final panel that will deliberate the case was reduced to 12 jurors by lottery and now consists of 5 men and 7 women, according to a reporter from the courtroom.
The fired alternate jurors were asked to remain in court while the jury deliberates on the case.
The original panel of 20 jurors, 11 women and 9 men, was selected in a single day of see say out of a pool of 179 potential jurors present in court, without the use of background questionnaires.
Two jurors were removed from office during the 8 days of testimony. One of them was fired after it was reported that he had tried to tell a joke about the police shooting of Jacob Blake to a deputy after the trial.
A female juror, who is pregnant, was also excused by the judge after she reported experiencing “slight discomfort” and asked to be excluded from the panel.
Judge Schroeder told potential jurors in the case during the see say that he cannot rule out ordering his isolation, but said there is a “less than 1% chance” of that happening. “I will resist as I can, but I cannot rule it out.”
Schroeder has not indicated whether he will isolate the jury in case they cannot reach a verdict Tuesday.
