Results are everything in the sport, and in the case of the Brooklyn Nets they are not smiling at you at the start of the season. Designated as one of the favorites to the ring, the New Yorkers add two wins to three losses, a streak that leaves them out of playoff spots for the moment. Obviously it is anecdotal at this point – there are 77 games left – but the fact that it is happening at the same time that Kyrie Irving can not play, makes the relevance of them grow.
Questioned by such circumstance, Kevin Durant admits that they miss the All-Star point guard, but in the same way he insists that they are doing things well and that they are only lacking success to improve the results.
I know what you want me to say. And yes, we miss Kyrie. We do. He is part of our team, but on top of that and as I said, we have been able to generate excellent shooting positions and we have been able to get into the paint. It’s just a matter of us converting the pitches. I think you see something that will come, “he says, speaking to the media.
KD keeps the speech correct – and realistic. Any team would miss a player of the stature of Kyrie Irving, and part of that is the fact that you can do better or worse without him. Last year, in the absence of point guard, James Harden and Durant led the team to a 12-6 record with an offensive rating of 113.2 points per 100 possessions. At present they remain at 100.6 points. They have a lot of room for improvement.
