Kevin Durant does not suffer a serious injury, but one with which you have to be careful. After the pertinent tests, the Nets have diagnosed their star with a sprain in the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee. Such an ailment does not require surgical intervention, but it does require a rehabilitation that will last between four and six weeks.
The injury, which occurred in an impact with his teammate Bruce Brown, who unbalanced fell on Durant’s joint, could cause the Brooklyn forward not to return to the tracks until after the All-Star break, which will have place between February 18 and 23.
Although KD must rest for more than a month, in the New York organization there is some relief, since in principle there will be no problem for their main reference on the court to reach the playoffs in perfect condition.
Coincidentally, Durant’s loss comes just when Brooklyn has to face more games on the road. To be exact, he will contest 11 of the next 14 on the road. This means that Steve Nash will be able to regularly use the backcourt made up of James Harden and Kyrie Irving (can only play outside of New York). With them on court, they will have to alleviate the 29.3, 7.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists that Durantula was signing.
Regarding the consequences of his absence, it remains to be seen how the team responds, currently second in the Eastern Conference with 27-15 (half a game from Chicago), and also to what extent it influences the race for the MVP in which he was immersed during.
