The Boston Celtics could be shorthanded for their Saturday evening matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as both teams enter the contest with a 10-8 record.
According to the team’s injury report released Friday, Jaylen Brown is listed as questionable due to low back spasms, while Neemias Queta is also questionable with a left ankle sprain. Derrick White is listed as probable with a right calf contusion. Jayson Tatum remains out as he recovers from a right Achilles repair.
Despite the recent injury concerns, the Celtics have maintained a relatively healthy roster this season, with neither Brown nor White having missed a game. In Tatum’s absence, Brown has stepped into a leadership role, averaging 28.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists while shooting 49.5 percent from the field. His leadership has extended off the court, where he has held teammates accountable after poor performances and offered praise for newcomers like Amari Williams, who made his NBA debut Wednesday in place of the injured Queta.
White, meanwhile, is coming off his best performance of the season. He was instrumental in snapping the Detroit Pistons’ 13-game winning streak on Wednesday, erupting for 27 points in a 117-114 victory. After a quiet first half, White scored 25 points in the second, finishing the game with six three-pointers, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. The veteran guard will look to build on that momentum and improve his season averages of 16.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.
Following their game in Minnesota, which tips off at 5 p.m. ET, the Celtics will travel to Cleveland for a matchup against the Cavaliers on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.
