Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei published a blog post Friday evening on the “Instagram” website, praising Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the “Quds Force” of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard who was assassinated in Iraq.
He said, “The martyrdom of Soleimani is a historical event, not just an ordinary accident that history will forget. History has recorded it as a bright spot where the martyr Soleimani became the hero of the Iranian people and the hero of the Islamic nation, and this is a fundamental point.”
He added, “Iranians are proud of themselves and that a man among them rose from a remote village and strived and struggled and built himself, and turned into a luminous figure and hero of the Islamic nation.”
Ali Khamenei had considered that “removing the American forces from the region would be the strongest blow to respond to the assassination of Qassem Soleimani.”
Khamenei stressed in December 2020 that “revenge for Qassem Soleimani is inevitable, and at any time possible,” stressing that “revenge will take place on those who ordered and carried out his assassination.”
