“We invite everyone to (…) speak according to their position,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Khatib Zadeh said regarding calls for Tehran to consult with its Gulf neighbors in any new negotiations over its nuclear program.
He pointed out that everyone should be aware of “the level they are at” and to adhere to all of them.
In his interview with the Iranian newspaper, Hamshari, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman explained, “We welcome dialogue within the region, but if the Gulf countries intend to dialogue about the nuclear agreement, we say firstly that it is not scheduled to negotiate again on the nuclear agreement, and secondly, the nuclear agreement is an issue.” The Iranian national security is affected, and no one has anything to do with it except Iran. Khatibzadeh added that the experience of the nuclear agreement between Iran and the international parties proved that there is no covenant for some of them and that “Zarif (the Iranian foreign minister )’s signature is more valid than the entire American administration,” criticizing the European parties, saying, “The Europeans committed a serious violation of the nuclear agreement by failing to fulfill their obligations to lift Penalties”.
As for the US policy towards Tehran since the outgoing President Donald Trump assumed the presidency, Khatib Zadeh considered that “the policy of maximum pressure has transformed into a policy of maximum failure for America.” Tehran, “on all cuts, on the day that Washington comes back to fulfill its obligations.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that his country is interested in “the practical steps that Biden will take” and is awaiting “the measures that he will take.”
