Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that the Ukrainian capital was subjected to an air attack today With huge explosions being heard, but no news yet of casualties, this is the first attack on Kiev since late last September.
Klitschko said on Telegram that huge explosions were heard on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the capital, and added that the air defense was working initially against ballistic missiles.
Warnings of air attacks were issued on Kiev and a nearby area just minutes before the explosions were heard, and the city authorities urged residents to remain in shelters.
Two drones
For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry said early on Saturday that Russian anti-aircraft units shot down two Ukrainian drones over the Moscow region and the Smolensk region in the west of the country.
Yesterday, Friday, the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service said that Ukrainian Navy drones sank two small Russian landing boats in the Crimean Peninsula, while forces prepared for more Russian attacks in the east, especially in the destroyed town of Avdiivka.
The Ukrainian army said that the two boats were bombed during the night, and they were manned and loaded with armored vehicles.
For his part, the President said: Volodymyr Zelensky Attacks on naval targets weakened Moscow’s military power in the region.
Moscow seized and annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014, and its Black Sea fleet is headquartered in the city of Sevastopol in Crimea.
