Kobe Bryant’s 2000 NBA championship jacket with Los Angeles Lakers is set to be auctioned off

A leather jacket made for Kobe Bryant commemorating his Los Angeles Lakers’ 2000 championship is set to be auctioned off early next month.

The jacket is a part of Julien’s Auction’s Icons & Idols: Sports collection, for which the auction will be held December 6 at the company’s Beverly Hills headquarters and online.

The limited edition jacket is signed by designer Jeff Hamilton and has patches that read, Los Angeles Lakers and Champions 2000, across the front.

The coat also has patches of the team’s logo, banners representing the team’s previous championship seasons (72, 80, 82, 85, 87, 88) and the logo of the 2000 NBA Finals.

The rear side of the garment reads 2000 champions and features the team logo, with six silver-toned star studs to represent the previous championship seasons, according to Julien’s.

Bryant and the Lakers bested the Indiana Pacers by a 4-2 margin in the NBA Finals. 

His teammates on the 2000 squad included Shaquille O’Neal, Rick Fox, Derek Fisher, Glen Rice and Tyronn Lue. 

In his 20-year career with the team, Bryant went on to win five championships (also in 2009 and 2010). He was snapped in 2016 in Denver

In his 20-year career with the team, Bryant went on to win five championships (also in 2009 and 2010) and was twice a NBA Finals MVP (in 2009 and 2010).

Kobe, 41, and daughter Gigi, 13, tragically died with seven others in a January 26, 2020 helicopter crash in Calabasas, California along with pilot Ara Zobayan, 50, Alyssa Altobelli, 14, Keri Altobelli, 46, John Altobelli, 56, Payton Chester, 13, Sarah Chester, 46, and Christina Mauser, 38. 

The late basketball icon wore two numbers during his career, 8 and 24. Kobe and his family were snapped at a 2017 ceremony in LA retiring the jersey numbers 

Vanessa and Kobe were snapped at a party in LA in December of 2019, a month before the tragic crash
