- Bulgarian comes into title contest as underdog but says he has strategy to win
- He has watched plenty of footage of Joshua and believes he makes mistakes
Kubrat Pulev has warned Anthony Joshua that he ‘sees lots of mistakes’ in the champion’s game to be exploited on Saturday night.
The Bulgarian is facing AJ on British soil at the 02 Arena in front of 1000 fans for IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO belts.
And despite coming into the contest as the underdog, the wily 39-year-old claimed to have seen enough of Joshua’s ability to pick holes in it.
Kubrat Pulev believes he has the strategy to overcome Anthony Joshua on Saturday night
He told Matchroom: ‘We see a lot of mistakes from Anthony. A lot of bad side and I think these mistakes, these bad sides stay. And I take and I will be good.
‘For me, it’s important what I do in the ring and how I prepare, how is my strategy, how is my boxing. This is important.’
‘The fans supporting him doesn’t matter to me, what is important is what I do in the ring, how I prepare, what is my strategy, my boxing, this is important.
‘This will be a big thing for me because I will be not only happy, I will be happy for the people and I think the world needs a new world champion like me.’
Anthony Joshua will defend his world title against the Bulgarian in front of 1000 fans
Pulev says he sees lots of mistakes in Joshua’s boxing that he can capitalise on
Joshua has agreed in principle to fight Tyson Fury twice next year in what would be two enormous showdowns.
But if he slips up against Pulev then the interest in those bouts will have severely diminished and the Bulgarian is out to play spoiler.
‘I don’t believe this fight is going to happen,’ he added. ‘I win on Saturday night.’
Pulev has only one defeat on his record and that was to Wladimir Klitschko, a man Joshua beat famously in 2017.
And the former Olympic champion is full of confidence again after reclaiming his titles by beating Andy Ruiz in their rematch in Saudi Arabia.
Only time will tell whether Pulev truly has the formula to overcome the British star and there is not long left to wait.
