Kyle Kuzma will play next season for the Washington Wizards after wearing the colors of the Los Angeles Lakers for the last four seasons. The University of Utah-trained player was part of the operation that ended Russell Westbrook in gold and purple.
And in addition to having a new team, coach and teammates, Kuzma has also chosen to change his number. Starting next season, he will wear the number 33 instead of the number 0 he wore for the Lakers. And the reason for this change is none other than to respect the figure of Gilbert Arenas, who was the franchise player of the capital before his famous incident with the pistols and Javaris Crittenton.
“Out of respect for Gilbert Arenas,” Kuzma acknowledged in a recent interview with the media. NBC Sports.
“That was probably one of the most important things about the change. When you think of the Washington Wizards, honestly the first person I think of, my generation at least, is Gilbert Arenas. Agent Zero. Obviously that played a huge role, and the other is that he just wanted to have a fresh start. I just felt like I did the right thing, ”he explained.
In his last season with the Lakers, he started 32 of the 68 games he played with averages of 12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 28.7 minutes on the floor.
For his part, Gilbert Arenas spent eight seasons with the Wizards with figures of 25 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.8 steals in 39.4 minutes per game.
